Files you deleted by accident
The most common job, and usually the most fixable. Recycle bin, version history, cloud backup, recently-modified files — most of the time the file's still there if you stop using the device and ring us soon.
Accidentally deleted files, cloud-sync mishaps, external drives that won't mount, photos that vanished after an update. We handle what's reasonable to handle on-site and tell you when a specialist lab is the right call. Greater Hobart.

● What we handle
The most common job, and usually the most fixable. Recycle bin, version history, cloud backup, recently-modified files — most of the time the file's still there if you stop using the device and ring us soon.
OneDrive, iCloud or Google Drive that decided to “sync” by deleting half your files? Usually the cloud has a deleted-files history we can restore from. The sooner we look, the better the odds.
A USB drive or external hard drive your computer won't see anymore. Sometimes it's the cable, the port or the file system — fixable on-site. Sometimes the drive itself has failed, in which case the realistic answer is below.
Photos that vanished from a phone or SD card after a delete-all moment, an update, or a card that's gone “unreadable”. Often recoverable if the card hasn't been written over.
A drive that clicks, won't spin up, or has been physically damaged is a clean-room job, not an on-site one. We'll tell you that up front, and explain what a specialist lab will and won't do — so you can make a call about whether the data's worth that level of recovery.
Honest take
Most data recovery is software-level — files that still exist somewhere, just not where you expect them. That's what we handle on-site, in a single visit, for a fair hourly rate.
For drives with physical damage — ones that click or won't spin — recovery means a specialist clean-room lab interstate. We can send these types of drives away to our data recovery partner for a free quote, and then you can decide if it's worth it.
● What we hear most
“I deleted a folder from my desktop and I need it back.”
Often recoverable, especially if you've stopped using the device. Ring before you do anything else.
“OneDrive emptied half my documents.”
Cloud services keep a deleted-files history we can usually restore from. Time-sensitive — the window is days, not weeks.
“My external hard drive isn't being recognised.”
Sometimes the drive, sometimes the cable, sometimes the formatting. We work out which.
“My laptop's hard drive is making clicking sounds.”
That's mechanical failure. Best thing you can do is stop using it. We'll explain the specialist-lab path so you can decide whether to pursue it.
Straight up
Fixed hourly rate, no call-out fee within 25 km of Hobart CBD, distance fee out to 40 km. For the easy on-site cases, usually one visit.
● A visit, start to finish
Every action on the device after a deletion or failure overwrites potential recovery. Stop using it and ring us.
We check the drive or device, tell you what's realistically recoverable on-site, and whether it's a specialist-lab case.
On-site recoveries are done in one visit. For lab cases, we explain the path honestly so you can decide.
● Data recovery questions
Can't see yours? Give us a ring and we'll get back to you — usually within a few hours during the day.
